I was leaving the gym following a crazy great workout, and as I made my stroll out the door I sneezed and wouldn’t you know it – I peed my pants. Not like a few drops but like I had to skip Starbucks and go home.
Say it ain’t true! Noooo coffee for the Rachel! How did this happen? I mean I’ve had two kids and lets just say that things don’t ever go completely back – but geez.
I am telling you this embarrassing story because things don’t always go as planned and it’s how you handle the bumps in the road that determine your day. As a working, single, mama my days are filled with managing situations.
I hate the term balancing or finding your balance. It’s just too woohoo for me. I like things more concrete. I like lists and goals and the feeling of accomplishment. It feels like finding your balance is just a game of moving the pieces about until you find a place of happiness.
Now I can get behind finding your happiness. I just think that it looks different for everyone. My ideal is being at home with my kids, it’s working out at the gym and feeling stronger, it’s listening to a True Crime Podcast (if you haven’t listened to True Crime Obsessed – do it – you’ll thank me – click here), and it is spending a lot of time alone.
So you may think that peeing my pants would ruin my day. Not at all. It just lead to grabbing an afternoon coffee and running into an old friend. It’s all about perpective and I have that piece down. So next time your day starts of with wet pants – suck it up buttercup and make the best of it.
